Robert Thomson's December update
As we run up to Christmas I have taken my last trip this year down to visit our customer base in the North of England. On this trip I spent more time with some of the customers I had met on last few visits to get a better feel for their individual business requirements as I think it is really important to understand these so as to service the account to the best of our ability. Most of the smaller companies seemed to still be very busy even though we are now very much on the count down to the holidays. While I was in Cumbria & the Lake district the weather was true to form and it rained pretty much nonstop, so I am sure the hire companies will be doing a brisk trade in water pumps & dehumidifiers. I also seemed to run into more than the normal amount of road works so again good news for those doing compaction & traffic light hire, I however was somewhat less happy after the 5th or 6th hold up.
Although I was concentrating on some of my newer contacts in the area I made a point of visiting Lord Hire Centres at their head office in Newcastle. I met with Technical Manager, Michael Baird and was pleased to hear that he has already registered for next year’s Executive Hire Show. Not only is he keen to go but already has ideas for his shopping list. I must say that it is always a pleasure to speak to Michael as he is very welcoming & very easy to speak to which is a genuine plus for a salesman. It is easy to see from the hire point of view why Lord Hire Centres are so highly regarded in the area and why they were winners of the multi depot Passionate Hirer Award at the 2018 Show!
